As we enter 2022, a lot of us put pressure on ourselves to start resolutions (promises). No more sweets, get back into the gym, get more organized, blah, blah, blah.
On our last yoga practice of the year, our Yogi spoke to all of us, but it really hit home.
“I was thinking about this whole thought of New Year’s Resolutions. You all know that that is not one of my favorite things because I feel like that is too much pressure. I like to invite and intention for the year, word of the year.”
“Why do we think, we, as collective humans, that we need to fix ourselves; that we aren’t complete the way we are? And, I want to really remind you on this last Thursday of the year, this last practice together of the year, that you are whole. You are completely perfect just the way you are. OK? I don’t care if you can hold a balance pose for 5 minutes, if you can stand on your head, you are completely perfect the way you are.”
“I think it is time for all of us to let go of that pressure of wanting to just be all for everyone, because we can’t. What we can do, is we can hold space for ourselves and the rest will kind of fall into place.”
